What to do if your computer shuts down and automatically restart itself without warning

How to resolve the problem when your computer restarts again and again?

This problems may get arise due to :
  • Corrupt file on the hard drive
  • Corrupt Windows system file
  • Corrupt or incompatible hardware driver
  • Newly installed program
  • Spyware or virus infection
  • Over Heat Issue
  • Loose Components OR Loose wire connection
  • CMOS battery failure

Solution No.1 :

Take out the cpu cabinet cover & Clean up all dust (clean up RAM as well as RAM slot, motherboad & fans). Once you are done, plug everything back in. Start your PC.

Solution No.2 :
  • First remove your RAM and make switch on your system. If you can hear Beeps means your CPU , Motherboard , Power supply is working fine.
  • If beep sound is coming then check the monitor or monitor data cable for any loose connections.
  • If you do not get any beep after you remove RAM just check CPU, motherboad and SMPS.

What are the signs of CMOS battery failure?

Sign 1 : Incorrect computer date and time settings. Also, the date/time keep getting reset even after you fix them in the BIOS. This is the most common CMOS battery failure sign.

Sign 2 : Your PC occasionally turns off or doesn’t start.

Sign 3 : Drivers stop working.

Sign 4 : You may start to get errors while booting that say something like “CMOS checksum error” or “CMOS read error”.

Sign 5 : Some weird hardware issues such as your computer not being able to locate the mouse, keyboard, or printer.

Solution : Buy a new CMOS Battery.

CMOS Battery Cost : 20 to 50 Rupees.

Trust me it works some time :)

Solution No.3 :

For a corrupt or inconsistently reported file on the hard drive :
  • Run CHKDSK [check disk] on the drive.
  • Go to My Computer, right-click the C drive, select Properties, and then go to the Tools tab, and select Check Now.
  • Choose 'automatically fix file system errors' and Start. Repeat this process for all hard drive letters in your computer.

Solution No.4 :

You can accomplish this in two different ways.

The first way is by doing the following :

1) Restart computer
2) Keep pressing F8 for advanced menu
3) Scroll down untill you find the following entry:

Disable automatic restart in system failure

-> highlight entry and then press enter

The second way is by doing the following :

1) Go to the Control Panel -> System and Security -> System [path = Control Panel\System and Security\System]

2) Click on Advanced System settings

3) Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery (as opposed to the dialog box’s other two Settings buttons).

4) Uncheck Automatically restart.

Solution No.5 :

Just repair your operating system...
  • Set your first boot device in the Bios to CD-Rom. Insert your Windows XP CD, save the bios settings and exit. Soon "Press any key to boot of CD" will appear on the screen, hit the space bar to continue.
  • Now setup will inspect your hardware and software, it then will load various files required for the repair. Just wait and be patient, this may take a few moments.
  • Soon a menu will appear , press enter to continue.
  • Now the "End User Agreement" Press "F8" if you agree, "ESC" if you don't.
  • You will now have to select the installation you wish to repair. Usually there is only one, but sometimes, there may be 2 or more (i.e. you have done a parallel install to resolve a problem), use the up/down arrow key to select the install, and then press "R" to continue.
  • Setup will now examine the disk be patient, it can take a few minutes.
  • Setup will go through a percentage : 1 to 100%
  • A screen will soon appear. Press "F3" to continue.
  • Now setup will reboot system, wait 15 seconds or just press enter.
  • Now it is time to see if this has solved your problems.

Hope it work..
Good Luck :)
